Description
Collingwood Magpies – Signed Framed 1990 Premiership Panoramic
After thirty-two years, nine Grand Finals and 616 games, the black-and-white army could once again rejoice — Collingwood were again Premiers.
Collingwood’s 14th Premiership team, in its fourth year under the combination of Leigh Matthews as coach and Tony Shaw as captain, was fresh off two seasons of September appearances.
Captain Shaw controlled the midfield on his way to becoming a Norm Smith Medallist, with the likes of Scott Russell, Tony Francis, Shane Kerrison, Damian Monkhorst and Darren Millane dominating in similar fashion. Meanwhile, the Magpies miserly defence restricted the Bombers to the lowest Grand Final score for 30 years.
Finally, the siren came and Collingwood had reclaimed the crown with a 48-point win. With a team drawing talent from across Australia, the country’s most iconic sporting club had finally put itself back on top.
Print celebrates the magpies 1990 premiership victory over Essendon, has scores, best players, crowd size, goal kickers etc and all the action photos from the day.
