With 16 VFL/AFL Premierships, no team has enjoyed more glory on the biggest stage. As Carlton Football Club launch into its 150th year, it serves as the perfect time to reflect on the players and teams that have been key to the Blues outstanding record of premiership success and individual achievement. As a part of Carlton’s anniversary festivities, a selection panel was commissioned with the unenviable task of identifying the Blues’ 150 greatest players, to be exalted in perpetuity as the ‘Champions of Carlton’.

The panel was a congregation of Blues stalwarts, having each left an indelible mark on the Club in their chosen roles. The panel comprised the current Carlton Football Club Director and Premiership player Adrian Gleeson; former President, CEO and Premiership player Ian Collins; four-time Premiership player and former Director David McKay; dual Premiership player, Club Best and Fairest and former Captain and Coach Ken Hands; and Carlton journalist and historian Tony De Bolfo. In their regular meetings, the panel deliberated over those Blues who met the eligibility criteria; a minimum of 50 senior games and five years of service within the Carlton Football Club.

In 2014, the the sesquicentenary of the founding of Carlton, the greatest 150 players is led by the likes of Bradley, Deacon, Doull, Hands, Jesaulenko, Johnston, Kernahan, Nicholls, Silvagni, Southby, Vallence, Walls and Judd — household names whose on-field deeds through countless winter Saturdays set Princes Park apart as the epitome of on-field success.

The Carlton Football Club and Australian Football League, is pleased to announce the commencement of 2014’s ‘Champions of Carlton’ memorabilia & collectables program, commemorating the greats of the Navy Blues around which there will be significant media and press coverage during the year. The signed and unsigned products are available in our warehouse for immediate dispatch and represent a most fitting opening to this unique program, so please contact me for your business’ requirements.
