The finest opening bowler of his generation and one of Australia’s post-war greats, Glenn McGrath achieved the honour in the 3rd Test against India in Nagpur, from October 26-29, 2004.
Significantly, McGrath’s magnificent milestone of becoming a Test ‘centurion’ was reached during Australia’s history-making 342 run victory in the Test – which sealed the first series win by a team in the baggy green in India since 1969.
Renowned for his consistency, accuracy and economy since making his Test debut against New Zealand in Perth in November 1993, the New South Welshman’s figures in his 100th Test were impressive and befitting such a monumental occasion.
McGrath finished the Test with a total of 5/106 from 41 overs, including a superb 3/27 from 25 overs (13 maidens) in the first innings! At the completion of his 100th Test, Glenn McGrath had taken a remarkable 451 wickets at an average of 21.73.
