The Tyson vs. Douglas fight, held on February 11, 1990, in Tokyo, Japan, is one of the most famous upsets in boxing history. Mike Tyson, then the undefeated and undisputed heavyweight champion, was heavily favored to win against James “Buster” Douglas, a 42-1 underdog. Despite Tyson’s dominance, Douglas fought courageously, using his jab effectively and keeping Tyson at bay. In the 10th round, Douglas delivered a powerful combination that knocked Tyson down for the first and only time in his career, leading to a shocking knockout victory. This loss marked a significant turning point in Tyson’s career.
