Alessandro Del Piero played a major role in elevating Sydney FC both on and off the pitch after signing in 2012 on a two-year deal. The former Juventus captain brought global attention to the A-League. During his stint he scored 24 goals across two seasons, captained the club, won the Golden Boot in 2013–14 and helped Sydney FC return to the finals series – leaving a lasting legacy as one of the biggest marquee signings in Australian sporting history.
