Matt Cooper has long been considered one of the best all-round centre three-quarters in modern day rugby league. It is a mark of his standing that he is rated as highly for his defence as for his attack – and he has scored well over 100 tries for St George Illawarra since making his debut in 2000. With Cooper working the left side of the field and Mark Gasnier on the right, the Dragons boasted one of the most formidable centre-pairings in the game and together they provided St George Illawarra with a winning edge in their breakthrough premiership victory of 2010
